40 years ago today something amazing happened. A tremendous scientific acheivement, and then those immortal words where uttered. "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

I know that we will get there again... there and beyond.

Today I was asked why I wasn't wearing green in celebration of St. Patrick's Day... my response:

"I wear black to mourn all those poor Druids that were driven out of Ireland by that mean Mr. Patrick."

Current Mood: amused
Dear Bank Management,

In view of what seems to be happening internationally with banks at the
moment, I was wondering if you could advise me. If one of my checks
is returned marked "insufficient funds," how do I know whether that
refers to me or to you?

Sincerly,
Puzzled customer

Note: I didn't actually come up with this, but just had to share.

Italicize the ones you've seen part of.

Underline the ones you want to see.

Oct. 30th, 2008 @ 10:16 am Your Age by eating out...
Current Mood: amused
Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway-but your waiter may know!

YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH

This is pretty neat

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!

It takes less than a minute. Work this out as you read .

Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!

This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun. Well... ok, it is a waste of time, but it's still fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to go out to eat.

(more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1758...

If you haven't, add 1757.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number. (I.e., How many times
you want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

The next two numbers are
YOUR AGE ! ------ (Oh YES, it is!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2008) IT WILL EVER WORK,
SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS

Current Mood: depressed
Almost 2 weeks ago we had to put Pilfer to sleep. I am only now able to post about it, and that is only because I have finally gotten to the point where thinking about it doesn't cause me to break down into uncontrollable tears.

With her loss on the 14th, both of our original pair of ferrets are now gone... we lost Filch last year shortly after moving to Missouri.

Anyway, that's all for now.

Mar. 30th, 2008 @ 06:55 pm The humor of Will Rogers
Current Mood: amused
Will Rogers, who died in a plane crash with Wylie Post in 1935, was probably the greatest political sage this country has ever known. Enjoy the following:

1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.
2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.
3. There are 2 theories to arguing with a woman...neither works.
4. Never miss a good chance to shut up.
5. Always drink upstream from the herd.
6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
7. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket.
8. There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.
9. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
10. If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there.
11. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back.
12. After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.

ABOUT GROWING OLDER..
First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra.

Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Sixth ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to thetop.

Seventh ~ One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.

Eighth ~ One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day hasbeen.

Ninth ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

Tenth ~ Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf.

And finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old.

I don't know if it's the weather (it's cold and rainy out) or if I am just in one of my down swings. Whatever the case is, I am feeling myself in a depression.

Jan. 31st, 2008 @ 01:17 pm Zune update...
Current Mood: discontent
Well. I know that my Zune works. I brought it over to Hamelyn's last night and we hooked it up to his computer. It did everything it's suppose to do.

While I only have the sample songs it came with at least I can use the radio tuner for my music for now.

Still won't connect to my computer. Still waiting for Microsoft Tech Support to work this out. Well, while it isn't the best, at least with being able to hook up to Hamelyn's computer I can at least get some songs and videos onto my Zune if nothing else works.
